   noun.   c. 1980   /'stE-v&n  'Ach  'kä-t&r-il/ *

Steve @ Apple I graduated high school in 1998 from Northville High School in Northville, MI. I was mostly active in marching/symphonic band, SADD, National Honor Society, and Zero Tolerance for Youth Substance Abuse.

I graduated in 2002 from the University of Michigan with a degree in Computer Engineering, focusing mainly on software.

In the Spring of 2005, I completed my master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction at the School of Information.

While in grad school, I worked with associate professor Mark Ackerman on his governance objects research. The bulk of my work on the project involved designing and implementing the flexible governance system in our online community system, "iDIAG", built on the Everything2 engine from The Everything Development Company. I am most proud of my "OK Framework" solution which facilitated system-wide, flexible decision-making in iDIAG.

Now, I work for Apple in Cupertino, California as a User Interface Engineer in Emerging Technologies. This photo of me was taken in Oct. 2005 inside the 1 Infinite Loop lobby.

Professionally, I am interested in pervasive computing, user interfaces, and the user experience— specifically the design of "walk-up and use" interfaces. My other interests are movies (big time movie nerd), music (punk, ska, alternative, rock, electronic, jazz, classic R&B), art (classical and electronic), and education (if I weren't working with computers or in film, I would most likely teach).
